Gulf Coast Guitar Setups provides professional acoustic guitar setups and basic repair services on the Texas Gulf Coast. I specialize in Acoustic Guitar setups and maintenance service. I will make sure that your guitar is setup and maintained to a high standard while providing you with the best customer service in the industry. You do not have to wait weeks for the other guys to get your prized guitar looking and sounding its best. Depending on the scope of work you need done, I can typically get it done in a few days and in some cases, the same day!! Please check back often! All of my setups are done to the highest standards and quality and customer service is my top priority. If your guitar does not look and sound better after I set it up, you dont pay me until its right!! Do not wait weeks for the other guys to get to your guitar. Depending on the scope of work your guitar needs, I will typically have it ready within a few days in most cases. I will NEVER leave you in the dark. I will keep you updated every step of the way and I will NEVER perform any work that is not needed. My only goal is to help you make beautiful music and look good while doing it!!!

My shop is located in Alvin Texas at my private residence just a few minutes south of Houston Texas. When you visit my shop you are a guest in my home and you will be treated with the respect and attention you deserve! Guitar setup Services

Most new guitar players, and even some experienced players, do not realize that a guitar needs to be setup correctly to play correctly!! Every guitar you buy brand new will need some sort of setup done on it to get the best sound from your playing. Rarely does a new guitar come from the factory setup for optimal playing conditions. Often the action (string height) will be too high which can cause alot of problems for new players wanting to learn. Having a high action can cause your fingers to hurt more than they need to which will lead to you giving up on wanting to play guitar!!. A high action makes it very difficult to form chords correctly and get a clear, consistent tone. When I setup your guitar I will do a full inspection on the guitar and take precise measurements of the string height to determine if any adjustments are needed, I will check and adjust the neck relief if needed, remove the old strings, deep clean the guitar using the appropriate cleaning methods including a professional fret polish!! I will then install your new strings and precisely tune the guitar using professional tuning methods.
basic same day string change $30 per string change (you provide strings)
Guitar strings should be changed frequently to get the best performance out of your guitar. If you are a regular, every day player it is suggested that you change your strings at least once per month. It really depends on how often and how much you play. I take the hassle out of string changes!! Drop your guitar off to me and I can get the strings changed while you wait! (Appointments required) I will remove the old strings, do a basic cleaning of the guitar, install new strings, stretch the strings so they stay in tune and tune your guitar to your preferred tuning!!

  • Our professional setup includes full inspection, deep cleaning, minor adjustments, truss rod adjustment if needed, adjust the action to your specs, fretboard cleaning, fret polish and strings. I will also "stretch" the strings to ensure the guitar stays in tune!!
  • If your guitar needs more, we can provide some additional services and will always let you know before work is performed..
  • Note: We do not do any type of major modifications or internal repairs on the structure of solid wood or HPL acoustic guitars. We will be happy to provide referrals for major structural repair work if needed.

I can do a same day string change if you just need a new set of strings installed!! Appointments are required for this service. Price will vary depending on type of strings needed.
